Sunday I went to a movie 'Family Stone' where there is a family who love to play Dumb-charades. The heroine gets a chit written name of a movie 'The brides were Black' and she has to enact it. She manages to communicate the first word, and for the last word she indicates to a family friend who is a Nigger. The entire family finds it too condescending to the Negro and sues the lady.
I admired this a lot in the movie and thought may be the real life is not so nice. White Americans have been maintaining an eye of hatred to the darker race. Well if not all, a large number of them. And decades of inferiority complex have made 'BLACK's revolutionary. They are muggers, druggers and anarchists. They love to dress in their own way, long pants, extra loose T shirts, hats and large head phones on the go. They talk differently and dance while they move. Well, most of them. I see a very few of them in white collars and desk jobs, but in large amount roaming around the down town with funny costumes and filthy language. I heard they have their own laws in their colony and whoever tries to raise above it, gets victimised by his fellow brothers. Thats why we see negligible numbers of them make it into colleges and universities, though they are often seen outside the campus selling drugs to and breaking limbs of students. Well, not all of them. Nothing aginst any race !
When I came here first I was surprised ( and partly amazed ) to see them exactly as I have been seeing them in English flicks. Dresses, caps, music and foot-tapping walk. Especially the way they speak. Somebody told me its close to Souther accent. Definitely its different and you will enjoy.
We Desis are in constant complex while in US. Americans admire a lot of things in us. We can work long hours. We don't have a life apart from work ( the very reason we are in our business in IT ). We are versatile in technology ( An american codes in C for 30 years and retires codoing in the same). And they hate even more things in us. We smell like our food, our hygiene is horrible and our dressing sense sucks. But they can never ignore us since we work for cheap.
We Desis sometimes find ourselves close to Kallus. We are in the same Creamy-layer. However smart we are, no matter we have a Green Card, no matter howmuch we make money, We can never be a part of the main stream, since the color of our skins have a melanin dominance.
